As an aspiring vet I thought I'd kick things off with a post about actually being a vet before moving onto how to get there.
Honestly I can imagine the career is an emotional roller coaster. I mean we all love animals here, why else become a vet? Therefore there is somewhat of a dilemma; the very reason we do the job is because of our love for the animals, however, at the same time we must remember to take a professional and prepared 'for the worst' stance. In other words while we will most certainly form some kind of bond with the patients (these are animals remember not people so it's not weird to say bond), we can not let ourselves get too attached. With that out of the way let's get into the positives and things I'm looking forward to. 1. You save lives and bring hope and joy to all kinds of pet owners. 2. You get to see, be around and interact with animals everyday. 3. As well as animals it's a great chance to meet some new humans and they will be interesting as they're pet owners! 4. Close knit team around you- if you're not a fan of #3 I assume it's possible to be slightly selective in your exposure to the human race.
